Until recently, the two most common methods of building your own home in Ireland, was that of either employing the services of a building contractor or deciding to go it alone by a method traditionally known as direct labour, now commonly referred to as the self-build method and as anyone who has ever constructed their own home will testify, there are as many positives as negatives in deciding to go down either route.
